What is included when I hire a campervan with Wicked Campers Australia?
All Wicked Campers in Australia include the campervan, a mattress, basic kitchen/cooking equipment, unlimited kilometres (on the East Coast and Tasmania), roadside assistance and 24/7 emergency support. Optional extras like camping gear, insurance upgrades and one-way hires can be added during booking.
How old do you need to be to hire a campervan in Australia?
Drivers must be 18 years or older to hire a campervan with Wicked Campers Australia and hold a valid full driver’s licence. Provisional and international licences are accepted in most cases. To hire a 4WD, the driver must be 21+.
Do I need an Australian driver’s licence to hire a campervan?
No. International licences are accepted as long as they are in English or accompanied by an official English translation or International Driving Permit (IDP).

How much does it cost to hire a campervan in Australia?

Is there a minimum hire period?
Minimum hire periods may apply during peak seasons or sale periods. Outside of peak times, short and long-term hires are often available.

Major credit and debit cards are accepted for bookings, bonds and payments.
Insurance & Security Bond
Is insurance included in my campervan hire?
All hires include basic cover, with the option to reduce excess by upgrading your cover during booking.
How much is the security bond for a Wicked Camper?
The security bond amount depends on your chosen cover option, vehicle and location. The bond is refundable 30 days after drop off, provided the vehicle is returned in good condition. Bonds vary from $500 to $2000.
Driving Rules & Restrictions
Can I drive a Wicked Camper anywhere in Australia?
You can drive on sealed and approved unsealed roads, but vehicles are not permitted on beaches or off-road tracks. 2WD campers can only drive on unsealed roads for 10km. Some remote or restricted areas may be excluded for safety reasons. You can find a map of Area of Use here.
Can I take the campervan into national parks?
Yes, as long as roads are suitable for 2WD or 4WD vehicles and park regulations are followed. Always check local conditions before entering national parks.
Can I drive at night?
Night driving is only allowed in urban areas, but caution is still advised. Driving between dusk and dawn in remote non-urban areas is prohibited.
Camping & Sleeping
Can you sleep anywhere in a Wicked Camper?
Free camping rules vary by state and council. Australia has many free camps, low-cost campgrounds and caravan parks, but overnight parking restrictions apply in some areas. Use an app like CamperMate to find free and cheap camps.
Do Wicked Campers have toilets or showers?
Most Wicked Campers do not include toilets or showers, but Australia has an extensive network of public amenities, caravan parks and campgrounds.

What do I need to bring when picking up my campervan?
You’ll need a valid driver’s licence, credit or debit card used for the booking, and your booking confirmation. International drivers may need an IDP or licence translation.
Do I need to clean the campervan before returning it?
The campervan should be returned in a clean condition. Excessive cleaning or rubbish removal may incur a fee. You are expected to wash the outside of the camper and vacuum the inside. This can easily be done at any car wash.
